Hyderabad: MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy launched a fierce verbal attack on BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), accusing him of misleading the people of Telangana regarding the state’s financial condition and ongoing employee agitations.
Speaking to the media, Chamala Kiran alleged that KTR was consistently spreading misinformation. “KTR seems to have lost his mind. Every day he peddles false narratives to divert public attention,” he said. Reacting to recent comments by KTR on CM Revanth Reddy’s public address on finances, the MP accused him of twisting facts.
He defended CM Revanth’s recent statements on Telangana’s financial state, stating, “Unlike the past, the Chief Minister honestly laid out the state’s condition and called for cooperation instead of confrontation.”
Drawing comparisons, Chamala questioned KTR’s silence during the 52-day RTC strike under KCR’s government. “Did KCR ever step out to speak during that time? He insulted the striking workers and then made Srinivas Goud an MLA just to silence the unions,” he said.
Chamala Kiran also slammed KCR for turning a revenue-surplus state into a debt-ridden one. “You were given a surplus Telangana, and ended up pushing it into ₹8 lakh crore debt. Now, the Congress government is paying ₹7,000 crore interest every month,” he stated.
He ridiculed KTR’s comments about public debt and government spending, especially the Miss World event, clarifying that the expense was ₹27 crore, not ₹250 crore as claimed.
“You claim to have governed the state well, but couldn’t even ensure salaries on the first of the month. We cleared ₹1.5 lakh crore in debt,” he said, calling out the BRS leader for his lack of accountability.
Chamala also mocked KTR’s political aspirations, saying, “Don’t dream about becoming CM. Your ambitions won’t materialise. Even the 2000 acres you spoke of—bring them to light.”
He accused KTR of behaving like a “one-man show,” blindly following his father KCR’s lead, and added that the people of Telangana will no longer be fooled. “KTR should be ashamed of his role in looting the state. One officer has already gone to jail in the Kaleshwaram case. More will follow,” he added.
Concluding, Chamala said the current Congress government is committed to resolving public issues and honouring its promises. “Don’t believe the words of a man who’s clearly shaken. The dues left behind by the previous regime will be fulfilled by this government,” he affirmed.
