Hyderabad: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday said the Centre, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, prioritises women’s empowerment through targeted efforts in employment, skill training, and financial access. In fact, he stated that Centre priority women empowerment is clear in these targeted interventions.
He spoke at a certificate distribution event for women trained under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Foundation at NI-MSME, Rahmath Nagar. The Minister said the government’s vision is to make every woman self-reliant by aligning with the larger focus on Centre priority women empowerment.
Schemes expanding access to finance, skills, and new sectors
Reddy said women now benefit from diverse schemes from access to space technology to targeted support in urban slums. He noted that the Centre priority women empowerment goal is also evident as the Jan Dhan Yojana enabled over 55 crore people, including many low-income women, to open bank accounts and gain financial access.
He highlighted key programmes like Drone Didi, Lakhpati Didi, and collateral-free loans for street vendors. Credit limits for self-help groups have increased from ₹50,000 to ₹20 lakh, with proposals to extend this to ₹50 lakh.
More women are now entering sectors like mining and technology. Reddy called this shift “revolutionary,” especially in places like Hitech City, where women play a major role in the IT sector. Furthermore, Centre priority women empowerment is reflected in the increasing participation of women in these emerging fields.
To improve outreach in underserved areas, he proposed using community halls in slums as training centres. He also praised the women who completed their training despite challenges.
Reddy linked these initiatives to the Prime Minister’s modest roots, saying Modi’s policies reflect empathy for the disadvantaged and continue the legacy of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He cited additional achievements including free LPG connections, four crore homes, and ₹5 lakh in health coverage per family under Ayushman Bharat.
Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, also present, said the government had strengthened self-help groups. He stressed that when women gain financial power, their families and communities thrive. He encouraged women to acquire skills and lead social change.
