Centre approves 100‑bed ESIC hospital in Shamshabad to expand worker healthcare

Hyderabad: The Central Government has approved a 100‑bed ESIC (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation) hospital in Shamshabad. This significantly boosts healthcare access for industrial workers and their families in Ranga Reddy district.

The hospital will come up at Pedda Golconda habitation in Raikunta village, Shamshabad mandal. The 197th ESIC meeting, held on December 11, 2025, sanctioned the project and cleared ₹16.12 crore for land acquisition.

New ESIC facility to serve growing insured workforce

Currently, Ranga Reddy district houses over 1.32 lakh ESI‑insured workers. This number is set to rise as industrial and commercial activity grows around the Shamshabad airport region.

To address this growing demand, the hospital will offer comprehensive medical services close to workers’ homes. The Central Government will directly handle its construction and day-to-day operations, ensuring high standards of care.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya for their support. He stated that this facility would ease the burden on existing hospitals. Additionally, it will improve healthcare outcomes for workers.

At present, ESIC runs a Super Speciality Hospital in Sanathnagar and general hospitals in Nacharam, Ramachandrapuram, Sirpur Kagaznagar, and Warangal. These facilities cater to insured workers across Telangana, but demand continues to grow, particularly in industrial zones.

By establishing the new hospital in Shamshabad, the Centre demonstrates its commitment to strengthening worker welfare. It also enhances healthcare infrastructure in high-growth regions.
