BRS stages protest in Medak over power cuts affecting farmers

Hyderabad: The BRS staged a protest and road blockade at Laxmapur Gate in Ramayampet mandal of Medak district over **Medak power cuts**, demanding an uninterrupted electricity supply for agriculture. Former Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy and former MLC Sheri Subash Reddy led the demand for reliable power to protect crops and ease farmers’ distress.

The leaders said low voltage had caused agricultural borewell motors to burn out. As a result, farmers were struggling to irrigate their fields, while standing crops faced the risk of drying up. They said the power supply was inadequate for agricultural needs across the district.

Medak power cuts threaten paddy crops at the grain-filling stage

The BRS leaders expressed concern that farmers in Medak were not receiving even six hours of electricity for agriculture. They said paddy crops had reached the grain-filling stage and were drying up because of a shortage of water.

Furthermore, they said power shortages had disrupted irrigation and caused crop losses. Farmers were consequently falling into debt after losing income from their fields. The leaders demanded a continuous supply of quality electricity to agricultural connections and called for urgent steps to save the crops.

BRS leaders, party workers and farmers participated in the protest and road blockade at Laxmapur Gate in Ramayampet mandal.
