Hyderabad: BRS MLC T Ravinder Rao accused the Congress government of using police to intimidate BRS workers and manipulate the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election. He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was behind a political conspiracy to rig the polls and was “openly misusing power.”
Ravinder Rao alleged that police conducted surprise raids at his rented residence in Kukatpally BSC Colony without prior notice. Moreover, he said the Election Flying Squad entered the house even though it was outside the Jubilee Hills constituency. Consequently, he condemned the raids and claimed that officials attempted to plant money to frame BRS leaders.
Ravinder Rao accuses Congress of a political conspiracy
“The Congress cannot accept defeat in Jubilee Hills,” Ravinder Rao said. “That is why Revanth Reddy is using police and officials to carry out illegal searches.” He added that the police had called BRS workers to police stations and threatened them. Furthermore, he said the ruling party was trying to create fear among BRS cadres before the by-election.
According to him, Congress had turned democracy into an instrument of oppression. “They are raiding homes in areas where the election code does not apply,” he said. “If police plant cash when residents are away, who will take responsibility for that?”
In addition, Ravinder Rao urged the State Election Commission to take immediate action against the officers involved. He also demanded that the Commission order a full inquiry into what he called “undemocratic actions” by the police. “Every democrat must condemn these attacks,” he said firmly.
BRS leaders allege misuse of power by Congress
Former BRS MLA Rajender Reddy also lashed out at the Congress government, saying law and order had collapsed. “When citizens cannot even enter their homes freely, it reflects total failure of governance,” he said. Moreover, he alleged that Congress was resorting to threats and intimidation because it could not fulfil its promises.
He remarked that people had now realised the “arrogance and hooliganism” of the ruling party. “Congress is using force because it has lost public trust,” he said. Additionally, he emphasised that the BRS would not remain silent in the face of such actions.
BRS leaders said they would soon file a formal complaint with the State Election Commission. They demanded strict disciplinary measures against the police officers responsible for the searches and called for the protection of democratic rights during the election period.
