Hyderabad: BRS general secretary R. S. Praveen Kumar wrote to Harvard University, urging it to revoke a completion certificate awarded to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for an executive leadership programme.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, Praveen Kumar alleged that the Chief Minister faced multiple criminal cases. He referred to past legal controversies, including the cash-for-vote case. He argued that such recognition weakened the principles of ethical leadership and asked the university to review its admission and certification processes.
Praveen Kumar said awarding certificates to controversial political figures could harm the credibility of globally respected institutions. He questioned the due diligence followed while admitting participants to executive programmes.
Harvard certificate row escalates Telangana political attack
The BRS leader alleged that Revanth Reddy faced 89 criminal cases, the highest for any sitting Chief Minister in the country. He claimed that the Chief Minister was caught red-handed by the ACB in the cash-for-vote case and spent nearly 50 days in jail.
Praveen Kumar further alleged that Revanth Reddy was involved in several scams after assuming office. He also accused him of repeatedly using objectionable language against political opponents. He said such conduct made the Chief Minister unfit to represent modern leadership values.
The letter triggered fresh political debate in Telangana and intensified exchanges between the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Congress.
