Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Monday alleged that the Telangana government was not operating the Kaleshwaram Project pumps and claimed the decision was affecting irrigation for farmers during the current farming season.
In a statement on social media, the opposition party described former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) as the architect of the Kaleshwaram Project and alleged that the present government was allowing political considerations to influence decisions on the irrigation scheme.
The BRS urged the state government to immediately operate the project’s pumps and claimed that doing so would help farmers facing water shortages.

The party also appealed to the government to set aside political differences and focus on protecting farmers’ interests by ensuring adequate irrigation. In its statement, the BRS warned that farmers would hold the Congress government accountable if their concerns remained unaddressed.
The Telangana government had not responded to the allegations in the statement at the time of publication.
