BRAOU hosts mental health awareness programme

Hyderabad: Dr B. R. Ambedkar Open University organised a mental health awareness programme on Tuesday as part of its Education Week celebrations held from May 11 to 17 at the university campus.

The event was held under the theme “Innovation, Inclusion, Institutional Excellence and Outreach” and focused on promoting mental well-being and emotional resilience among students and faculty.

Clinical psychologist Sri Krishna attended the programme as the guest speaker and delivered a lecture on mental health and wellness.

He said mental health forms the foundation for human rights and socio-economic progress and stressed the importance of emotional resilience, self-confidence, purpose, and personal growth in daily life.

Sri Krishna also highlighted the role of adequate sleep, nutritious food, and regular physical exercise in preventing mental and physical health issues.

Mental health awareness highlighted during Education Week

The programme was presided over by G. Pushpa Chakrapani and attended by faculty members, university officials, employees, and students.

Among those present were Pallavi Kabde, Rabindranath Solomon, I. Anand Pawar, P. Venkata Ramana and Prem Kumar.

University officials said the awareness programme formed part of broader Education Week activities aimed at encouraging academic excellence, inclusion, and institutional outreach.

The event also focused on raising awareness of emotional well-being and promoting healthy lifestyle practices among students and staff.
