Hyderabad: D. S. V. R. Murthy assumed charge as the Chief Postmaster General of Telangana Circle on Tuesday.
Murthy, a senior officer of the 1998 batch of the Indian Postal Service, previously served as Chief Postmaster General of the Jammu and Kashmir Postal Circle before his transfer to Telangana.
A Computer Science Engineering graduate from GITAM, Murthy hails from Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh and joined the Department of Posts on September 7, 1998.
During the early phase of his career, he served in several important positions including SSRM and Manager at Air Mail facilities in Mumbai, SSPOs in Bengaluru, APMG at Bengaluru Circle Office, and Deputy Director at PTC Mysore.
As a Junior Administrative Grade officer, he worked as Director of Postal Services in Chennai and Vijayawada regions. Later, he handled major assignments as Additional Director at Rafi Ahmed Kidwai National Postal Academy and as Postmaster General of South Karnataka and Vijayawada regions.
Telangana Chief Postmaster begins new assignment
After his promotion to Higher Administrative Grade, Murthy served as Chief Postmaster General of the Jammu and Kashmir Postal Circle from November 17, 2025, before taking charge in Telangana.
Officials and employees of the Telangana Postal Circle welcomed the new Chief Postmaster General and expressed confidence in his leadership.
They said his administrative experience and service background would help strengthen and modernise postal services across Telangana.
Postal officials also stated that Murthy’s appointment is expected to support ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency and expand public service delivery in the state.
