BJP begins GHMC poll preparations in Telangana

Hyderabad: BJP GHMC preparations gathered pace after Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao held a key meeting with division presidents and senior leaders from GHMC limits on Tuesday.

The meeting took place at the BJP city office in Barkatpura in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma.

Ramchander Rao urged party workers to focus on disciplined booth-level mobilisation across Hyderabad ahead of the upcoming GHMC elections.

BJP GHMC preparations ahead of civic polls

He said the number of GHMC wards could increase to 300 or even 350 following the delimitation process. Therefore, the BJP should remain fully prepared for elections likely in September or October this year.

Recalling the 2020 GHMC polls, Ramchander Rao said the BJP had independently won 48 divisions despite facing the combined strength of the then TRS and AIMIM. According to him, the result reflected growing support for the BJP in Hyderabad.

He stated that the BJP now enjoys strong parliamentary representation within GHMC limits. He also predicted a powerful performance in the civic elections.

Ramchander Rao declared that a BJP victory in GHMC would pave the way for the formation of a BJP government in Telangana.

BJP GHMC preparations focus on candidate selection

The BJP leader said tickets would be given only to hardworking grassroots leaders with strong public connect. He added that group politics and internal conflicts would not be tolerated.

Candidate selection, he said, would depend on surveys, public acceptance and winnability.

Ramchander Rao further stated that the BJP central leadership was closely monitoring the GHMC elections. He urged cadres to strengthen booth committees in every ward.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent public meeting in Telangana, he described the event as a major success that boosted enthusiasm among party workers and the public.

Taking a dig at the BRS, Ramchander Rao claimed the party no longer existed in the minds of the people. He also alleged that several BRS leaders were interested in joining the BJP.

He expressed confidence that the BJP would win all three proposed municipal corporations in the GHMC region and emerge as the strongest political force in Telangana.
