BJP urges separate ministry for Gulf workers from Telangana

Hyderabad: BJP Legislature Party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy on Monday urged the Telangana government to establish a dedicated ministry for workers from the state employed in Gulf countries. Raising the issue during Zero Hour in the Assembly, he said these workers continue to face serious hardships abroad and require focused policy attention.

He highlighted that the state had failed to release adequate funds for the ‘Mana Ooru–Mana Badi’ school development programme. He also criticised the government for not fulfilling promises made to Telangana movement activists and demanded immediate implementation.

Alleti further urged the government to clear pending dues related to student scholarships and fee reimbursements. He pointed out discrepancies in the number of voters across GHMC divisions following the recent delimitation and requested a review.

The BJP leader said these unresolved issues were impacting large sections of society, including students and families of migrants. He called for time-bound action on all pending financial commitments and for structural support to the Gulf migrant community through a dedicated ministry.
