BJP alleges delay in phone tapping case probe

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao accused the Congress government of delaying the phone tapping case under the pretext of investigation.

Speaking to the media at a city programme on Friday, Ramchander Rao said the government lacked intent to punish the guilty. According to him, genuine commitment would have led to the arrest of political leaders linked to the case.

He alleged that leaders who ordered phone tapping during the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi government continued to move freely. This, he said, reflected the absence of seriousness in the probe.

Phone tapping case shows lack of intent, says BJP

Ramchander Rao further alleged that the present Indian National Congress government was also tapping phones of opposition leaders. Such actions, he said, raised serious doubts about democratic functioning.

According to the BJP leader, the Congress government is using the phone tapping case only to buy time. He said the issue was meant to divert public attention from governance failures.

Warning of continued pressure, Ramchander Rao said the BJP would demand strict action. He added that the party would not spare anyone involved, irrespective of political position.
