Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka called Bhu Bharati a “milestone” for farmers’ rights on Tuesday, describing the new initiative as a game-changer for India’s legal landscape. He was speaking in Mulugumadu village, Khammam district, where he launched the pilot project alongside Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao.
Addressing a crowd of farmers and local residents, Vikramarka laid out the core goals of Bhu Bharati: to map out farmland, settle boundaries once and for all, and put an end to the land disputes that have plagued farmers for decades.
He didn’t hold back on criticism of the previous government’s Dharani system, accusing it of sidelining farmers’ rights. “BRS leaders twisted the rules to allocate lands to their cronies,” he said. “They even issued passbooks for 17 acres when only 10 acres existed.” He promised that those wrongs would be set right.
Vikramarka assured farmers that every assigned land record would be re-examined, and rightful titles granted. “No farmer will be left behind,” he vowed. “Through Bhu Bharati, we’ll bring justice back to the people.”
He also announced plans to revive Assigned Committees led by local MLAs, aiming to distribute agricultural land and housing plots to the landless poor. “This move shows the government’s commitment to inclusivity and social justice,” he said.
Calling the Bhu Bharati Act a “triumph” for farmers, Vikramarka praised the villagers’ warm response to the pilot project, saying it showed trust in the government’s efforts. “This will bring respect and recognition to the State government like never before,” he added.

As the project moves forward, the government hopes to rebuild farmers’ confidence, ensure transparent land records, and empower the agricultural community. It’s a promise that the Bhu Bharati Act aims to deliver on.
