BC welfare education key to future progress: Ponnam Prabhakar

Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said BC welfare education remained essential for long-term progress and urged officials to place it at the core of Telangana’s Vision 2047. He outlined his directions during a review held at the Ministers’ Quarters under the Telangana Rising Global Summit-2047 framework.

BC communities formed 56 percent of the state’s population. Moreover, they supported agriculture, crafts and key skill-based sectors. Because of this, he said their social and economic rise would strongly influence the state’s growth. Consequently, he asked the department to link education with innovation and modern opportunities.

He stressed that BC students needed steady access to quality learning. Therefore, he asked officials to monitor standards often and address gaps without delay. Stronger institutions, he added, would build confidence and improve financial security for students.

He also urged the department to widen skill development. Traditional skills, he said, were useful; however, they were not enough to meet global competition. Additionally, exposure to new technologies could help students adapt to changing needs. Regular mentoring, he added, would guide them toward stable careers.

The minister directed the department to upgrade residential schools and hostels into centres of excellence. Furthermore, he said early training in financial skills, digital tools and entrepreneurship would increase the competitiveness of BC youth. These steps, he noted, could also reduce long-standing social and economic barriers.

He said the global summit would study all proposals carefully before finalising the Rising Telangana Vision-2047 document. He also encouraged officers to consult experts, gather field inputs and review outcomes to strengthen the final plan.

BC Welfare Principal Secretary Burra Sreedhar, Gurukula Secretary Saidulu, Additional Director Alok Kumar and other senior officials attended the meeting.
