Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Wednesday demanded the immediate Balka Suman release and criticised the Congress government over his arrest in Kyathanpalli municipality.
Speaking to the media, Harish Rao alleged that police detained former MLA Balka Suman despite the BRS securing a majority in the civic body. He claimed that the ruling party used administrative authority and police intervention to influence municipal proceedings. Therefore, he described the arrest as politically motivated.

Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government undermined democratic norms in municipalities with closely contested mandates. He accused the ruling party of targeting opposition leaders. Moreover, he claimed that authorities encouraged what he termed undemocratic practices.
Referring to Jangaon, he alleged that a Dalit woman councillor who supported the BRS faced an attack in the presence of officials. According to him, authorities did not intervene. He further claimed that similar developments occurred in Thorrur, Ibrahimpatnam and Zaheerabad. In those municipalities, he alleged, ruling party leaders attempted to secure chairman posts without respecting the public mandate.
Harish Rao urged the Election Commission to ensure a fair and transparent environment for the Kyathanpalli chairman election. He reiterated his demand for the immediate Balka Suman release and called for adherence to established democratic procedures.
