Hyderabad: Minister for Public Enterprises and Minorities Welfare Mohammed Azharuddin on Wednesday chaired a high-level review at the Telangana Secretariat. The meeting aimed to assess preparations for Ramzan 2026 and the implementation of minority welfare schemes across the state.
The meeting, attended by all District Minorities Welfare Officers (DMWOs), focused on district-level readiness for Ramzan. It also discussed progress under the Shaadi Mubarak scheme, status of Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikaas Kariyakram (PMJVK) projects, and fund utilisation for Christmas celebrations.
Minister urges accountability, faster delivery of welfare benefits
Senior officials briefed the Minister that districts were actively preparing to ensure timely and smooth execution of arrangements during the holy month. In addition, government advisor Mohd Ali Shabbir and chairpersons of minority welfare bodies also provided inputs to improve coordination and monitoring.
Azharuddin directed all DMWOs to hold district-level Ramzan review meetings within a week. These must involve District In-Charge Ministers, Collectors, MLAs, officials from all relevant departments, and community religious leaders. Additionally, he instructed immediate clearance of all pending Shaadi Mubarak applications and completion of PMJVK projects on priority. The infrastructure is to be handed over to the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGMREIS).
He also emphasized that funds released for Christmas celebrations should be used for church whitewashing and electrification. Furthermore, the Minister underscored the need for timely execution, full transparency, and accountability. These measures will ensure minority communities receive the intended benefits without delay.
