Hyderabad: AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi urged voters in Jubilee Hills to elect Congress candidate Naveen Yadav. He said Yadav’s victory would ensure faster development and also help counter the BJP’s growing influence in Telangana.
Owaisi addressed several gatherings in Erragadda and Sultan Nagar during his campaign visit on Sunday evening. Moreover, he appealed to people of all faiths to unite and support Yadav. He said the by-election would not affect government formation, yet it would decide Jubilee Hills’ progress for the next three years.

Owaisi said that if Yadav wins, major development works could start without delay. “This election is about progress, not politics,” he said. “Therefore, to stop BJP’s advance, voters must elect Naveen Yadav.”
He clarified that AIMIM’s support for the Congress candidate came purely from local priorities, not from any political alliance. Furthermore, he added that AIMIM would take a separate decision for the 2028 elections.
After offering Maghrib prayers at Jama Masjid, Erragadda, Owaisi met the family of late corporator Mohammed Sharif. Later, he interacted with residents and spoke to journalists at the home of former corporator Jani Miyan.

During the campaign, Owaisi was accompanied by Naveen Yadav, Channa Srisailam Yadav, youth leader Yasar Arafat, MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig Qadri, and MLC Mohammed Naseeruddin. Local AIMIM organisers were also present.
Additionally, Owaisi highlighted AIMIM’s recent civic achievements in Jubilee Hills. The party had already won two wards — Mohammed Sharif from Erragadda and Rashiduddin Faraz from Sheikpet. In the past month alone, AIMIM secured ₹11 crore for Erragadda and ₹9 crore for Begumpet.
Finally, Owaisi criticised the BRS for failing to deliver visible progress in ten years. He said the ruling party only repeated his name for political survival. “Voters should see real work, not slogans,” he said.
