Arundhati Reddy returns to Hyderabad after India’s World Cup win

Hyderabad: Indian cricketer Arundhati Reddy received a grand welcome in Hyderabad on Thursday night after India’s historic Women’s World Cup win.

Officials from the Telangana Sports Authority, led by its Chairman, greeted her at the Shamshabad International Airport. Moreover, family members, fans, and supporters turned up in large numbers to celebrate her arrival.

India’s women’s team created history by winning the One-Day World Cup on November 2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team soon after the victory. Later, he invited the players to his residence in New Delhi for a special interaction.

During the meeting, Arundhati shared a personal message from her mother with the Prime Minister. She said, “I never imagined I would get a chance to speak with you. My mother sent a message for you — she says you are her hero.”
