Ambedkar Knowledge Centres to support rural aspirants: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday announced that the Telangana government is setting up Ambedkar Knowledge Centres in each constituency to help rural students prepare for competitive exams without having to move to Hyderabad.

He made the announcement after reviewing the Education Department’s progress with senior officials at his Madhira camp office. Bhatti said the initiative aligns with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s vision to make Telangana’s education system a national model.

These centres will offer digital libraries, curated study material, and online coaching from top faculty across India. The government has already proposed to launch the programme in five constituencies of Khammam district. According to Bhatti, these centres will ease the financial burden on students who often migrate to urban areas for coaching.

He also confirmed that Young India Integrated Residential Schools will begin functioning from the upcoming academic year. Describing them as a “game-changer,” he noted that construction work at sanctioned sites is progressing swiftly.

To address child malnutrition, Bhatti said the government is preparing to launch a breakfast scheme in government schools. The Finance Department is currently working out the logistics for its implementation from the next academic year.

In addition, the government is converting Industrial Training Institutes into Advanced Technology Centres. Polytechnic colleges are being upgraded into engineering institutions to boost employability and modernize the education ecosystem.

As part of its school development plan, the state will upgrade three government schools in every mandal. One school for every ten villages will also receive phased improvements, including infrastructure, staffing, and classroom facilities.

Bhatti directed officials to use Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to arrange midday meals for intermediate college students. He also confirmed plans to install rooftop solar panels in all government educational institutions to promote clean energy.

Education Secretary Yogita Rana, School Education Director Nicholas, Intermediate Education Secretary Aditya Bhaskar, EWSID MD Ganapati Reddy, NPDCL CMD Varun Reddy, and Khammam Collector Anudeep Durishetty attended the meeting.
