Akhilesh Yadav vows to counter BJP in UP using AI, slams voter purge

Hyderabad: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said he would use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to take on the BJP in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Speaking at the Vision India Summit in Hyderabad, the former UP Chief Minister criticised the BJP for promoting divisive politics. He said his party would focus on development, technology, and inclusive governance.

AI in governance and cyber safety

Akhilesh highlighted AI’s growing importance in areas like agriculture, traffic, healthcare, and city planning. He said summit experts suggested practical ways to use AI for public good.

He also expressed concern about rising cybercrime in Uttar Pradesh. The state, he said, reports the highest number of cases in the country. Akhilesh urged the use of AI to stop fraud, especially scams targeting judges and senior officials. He also called for action against fake AI-generated videos spreading online.

Voter deletion ‘NRC in disguise’

Turning to the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, he accused the BJP of trying to remove nearly three crore voters in UP. He described the move as “NRC in disguise” and warned that the technology was being misused to suppress votes.

He urged the Election Commission to protect voter rights rather than remove them without cause.

Akhilesh concluded by reaffirming the Samajwadi Party’s support for the INDIA alliance. He said his party would continue to push for inclusive, tech-driven progress.
