Hyderabad: AIMIM intensified mosquito control efforts in Toli Chowki with a focused drive at Shah Hatim Lake, following representation from the party in the GHMC.
Karwan constituency AIMIM MLA Kausar Mohiuddin was associated with the initiative. The programme targeted mosquito breeding at vulnerable locations around the lake.
Officials released 29,000 Gambusia fish into the water body to control mosquito breeding. Gambusia, also known as mosquitofish, feed on mosquito larvae found in stagnant water.
Meanwhile, workers deployed oil balls in areas identified as vulnerable to mosquito breeding. The measure formed part of the broader control operation at the site.

The team also used drones to spray Diflubenzuron larvicide across mosquito-breeding sites. This method helped cover the targeted areas as part of the control drive.
The Chief Entomologist and AMOH attended the programme along with GHMC officials. Their presence marked the implementation of the mosquito-control measures on the ground.
AIMIM said the drive followed its representation on the mosquito issue. The party also stated that it remained committed to addressing the mosquito menace and safeguarding residents’ health.
The operation at Shah Hatim Lake included fish release, oil-ball deployment and drone-based larvicide spraying.
