Hyderabad: Afzalgunj police arrested an auto theft offender and recovered five stolen motorcycles, including one linked to a case reported on November 19 by a student from Chatrinaka.
Eighteen-year-old Manga Manideep had parked his Hero Passion Plus motorcycle at Dhobighat Parking in Osmania General Hospital on November 12. The vehicle, registered in his aunt’s name, went missing while he was attending to his grandfather in the hospital. Based on his complaint, police began a targeted investigation.
On December 1 at 10:15 am, police apprehended the suspect. He was identified as Kurva Naresh, also known as Potti Naresh, a 29-year-old shepherd from Venkataipally village in Mahbubnagar district. He confessed to stealing five bikes by using duplicate keys. Naresh typically operated in busy parking zones and sold the stolen motorcycles to unsuspecting buyers.
Repeat offender linked to bike theft FIRs in multiple stations
Naresh had prior theft cases registered against him at Mahbubnagar and Chilkalguda police stations. The five recovered bikes were connected to FIRs at Afzalgunj and II Town Mahbubnagar police stations, filed under Section 305(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The recovered vehicles are as follows:

- Hero Honda Passion Plus (AP 29 BH 4930) – Afzalgunj PS
- Hero Passion Pro (TS 06 ED 7369) – II Town PS, Mahbubnagar
- Hero Honda Splendor Plus (AP 29 AV 9081) – Afzalgunj PS
- Hero Splendor (TS 08 GF 8208) – Afzalgunj PS
Police credited the swift arrest to the coordinated work of DSI V. Narender Reddy and the Afzalgunj crime team. Senior officers have appreciated the efforts and confirmed that the team will receive commendations.
