ACB traps Technical Assistant in Mancherial for ₹10,000 bribe

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday caught a Technical Assistant red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 at the MPDO office in Kannepalli mandal, Mancherial district.

ACB officials from Adilabad conducted a raid on the Kannepalli MPDO office and apprehended Banoth Durga Prasad, who was working as a Technical Assistant on an outsourcing basis. He was accused of demanding a bribe to clear a pending payment under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).

According to officials, a beneficiary from Lingapur village had constructed a cattle shed under NREGS. When he approached the Technical Assistant to process his bill, the officer allegedly demanded ₹10,000. ACB officers arrested him while he was accepting the amount.

Case registered, investigation underway

The ACB team recovered the bribe money and produced Durga Prasad before the Karimnagar ACB court. A formal case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing.
