₹1 crore compensation for constable Pramod’s family

Hyderabad: Telangana DGP Shivdhar Reddy announced a compensation of ₹1 crore and full departmental support to the family of constable Pramod Kumar, who was murdered by rowdy sheeter Riyaz. The DGP visited the bereaved family in Nizamabad and assured them of continued assistance.

Speaking to the media later at the Police Commissionerate, Shivdhar Reddy stated that the family would receive a monthly salary equivalent to Pramod’s last drawn pay for the remainder of his service period. Additionally, a government job will be given to one family member, and a 300-square-yard residential plot will be allotted.

Further, the DGP confirmed that the family will receive ₹16 lakh from the police security welfare fund and ₹8 lakh from the police welfare scheme. These measures aim to ensure financial stability for the family following the constable’s death.

He also acknowledged the contribution of a civilian named Asif, who assisted in apprehending Riyaz. Asif’s wife was given ₹50,000 in recognition of his role.

When asked about Riyaz’s encounter, the DGP declined to comment, citing the ongoing Human Rights Commission inquiry. He noted that a Judicial Magistrate had already conducted an inquiry on the day of the incident. He added that individuals involved in serious crimes in Telangana will face strict punishment.

DGP Shivdhar Reddy paid homage to constable Pramod on behalf of the police department, stating their firm commitment to maintaining law and order in the state.
