Yadava community leaders attempt protest with sheep at Gandhi Bhavan, blocked by police

Hyderabad: Yadava community leaders on Monday attempted to stage a symbolic protest at Gandhi Bhavan by bringing sheep into the party headquarters, accusing the Telangana Congress of sidelining shepherd communities post-election.

The protest, led by representatives of the Golla Kurumala Welfare Association, was aimed at highlighting the perceived neglect of Yadava representation in the PCC Executive Committee and the state cabinet. Protesters said promises made specifically to shepherd communities ahead of the polls had not been fulfilled.

As part of the demonstration, the leaders tried to lead sheep into the Gandhi Bhavan premises. Police stationed at the entrance blocked the move, preventing the animals from entering. The attempted protest led to a brief exchange of words between the protesters and police personnel.

Following the standoff, the group held a sit-in outside the compound, continuing to demand political inclusion. Protesters said they were specifically seeking ministerial berths and stronger representation within the party structure.

Video clips showing the confrontation and sheep being turned away from the gates were widely shared across social media platforms through the day.
