Woman Maoist killed in Kanker encounter; arms and explosives seized

Hyderabad: A woman Maoist in uniform was killed in an encounter with security forces on Thursday morning in Kanker district, Chhattisgarh.

Officials said the exchange took place in a forested hill area between Amatola and Kalpar villages, across the Kotri river under Chhotebethiya police station limits. A joint search operation was launched by DRG and BSF personnel following intelligence inputs about Maoist movement in the region.

During the search, the joint team engaged with armed Maoists around morning hours. After the gunfight, the body of a female Maoist was recovered. She is believed to have been a member of Company No. 7.

One .303 rifle, a country-made BGL launcher, seven live rounds, a wireless set, two backpacks, mobile phone chargers, Maoist literature, medicines, and a large quantity of daily-use items were recovered from the site.
