Hyderabad: A 26-year-old police officer died by suicide, a woman constable suicide case reported from Vikarabad district on Saturday, police said. The officer left behind a note apologising to her mother and stated that no one was responsible for her death.
The deceased was identified as Balija Divya, a 2020 batch constable. She had been serving at Dharur police station in Vikarabad district for the past five years. According to police, she hanged herself at her residence in Saibaba Colony in the district headquarters during the early hours of Saturday.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving information. They shifted the body to the Vikarabad Government Hospital for postmortem examination. During the inspection, officers recovered a suicide note from near the body.

In the note, Divya apologised to her family for her decision. “Dear mother and my family members, please forgive me for taking this decision. No one is responsible for my death. I am taking this wrong step as I am unable to bear mental stress. I do not want to become a burden to you. If father were alive, it would have been better. Because father is not there, you are facing so many difficulties. Forgive me, mother,” she wrote.
Her father, Basavaraj, had worked as a Home Guard and died six years ago. Divya was his third daughter.
Police registered a case in connection with the woman constable suicide and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to her death. Further details are awaited.
