Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Warangal’s Subedari police station on Saturday after BRS leaders were prevented from meeting Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, who had been arrested earlier in the day.
Senior BRS leaders Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar and Rakesh Reddy arrived at the station to express solidarity with Kaushik Reddy but were stopped by police at the entrance. A heated exchange followed as party leaders questioned the police for denying access.
Following the altercation, BRS members staged a protest in front of the station, raising slogans against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Kaushik Reddy was arrested at Shamshabad airport in connection with a case filed by a businessman’s wife, Katta Umadevi, who had alleged that the MLA had issued threats and demanded ₹50 lakh. The complaint was lodged at the Subedari police station in April. Police registered a case under Sections 308(2), 308(4), and 352 of the BNS and are continuing the investigation.
Kaushik Reddy is expected to be taken to MGM Hospital for a medical examination shortly, after which he will be presented before a magistrate.
