Warangal police bust child kidnapping racket; rescue five children

Hyderabad: Warangal Police arrested two men accused of kidnapping infants and selling them to childless couples under false claims of legal adoption. The joint operation by Kazipet Police and the Warangal Task Force led to the rescue of five children.

Warangal Commissioner of Police Sunpreet Singh disclosed the arrests on Saturday during a press briefing at the Commissioner’s Office. He identified one of the suspects as Kodupaka Naresh. Naresh had abducted multiple children from footpaths and sold them for money.

Five-month-old abducted from Kazipet railway station among rescued

The case came to light after unidentified individuals kidnapped a five-month-old boy named Mallanna from outside Kazipet Railway Station on December 28, 2025. The child had been sleeping on the footpath with his parents, including his father Kanna Naik. Naik later filed a police complaint.

Investigating teams from Kazipet and the Task Force tracked the suspects near the same station while they were allegedly scouting for another child. Officers detained them on suspicion and, during questioning, they confessed to abducting Mallanna. They also admitted to taking four other children.

They admitted to selling the infants to couples by falsely claiming the children had been taken from orphanages. The accused sold Mallanna to a family in Lingayapalli village, Jannaram mandal.

Warangal Police rescue all trafficked children, detain buyers

Officers managed to locate and rescue all five children. Authorities also detained the couples who bought the children without any legal adoption procedure or documentation.

Commissioner Sunpreet Singh praised the swift action of the Kazipet Police and the Task Force. He distributed rewards to the officers involved.

The press conference was attended by Central Zone DCP Kavitha, Kazipet ACPs Madhusudhan and Prashanth Reddy, Inspector Sudhakar Reddy, Task Force personnel, and officials from the District Child Protection unit.
