Warangal on high alert for three days of heavy rain forecast

Hyderabad: In view of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) warning of heavy rainfall in Warangal district for the next three days, District Collector Dr. Satya Sharada directed officials to remain on high alert and implement strong preventive measures to avoid public inconvenience. She reviewed preparedness with the Additional Collector and district and mandal-level officials through a teleconference from her camp office.

The Collector instructed residents to contact the Warangal District Collectorate control room for emergency assistance at the toll-free number 1800-425-3424 or mobile number 9154252936. She asked tahsildars, ASHA workers, and anganwadi staff to visit villages to address public needs at the ground level.

Officials told to monitor flood-prone areas around the clock

Mandal Parishad Development Officers and tahsildars were told to continuously monitor low-lying and flood-prone areas and take immediate action to prevent problems. Warning boards must be installed near fast-flowing streams. Revenue, electricity, and roads and buildings departments were instructed to coordinate so that any disruption to transport or power supply is addressed promptly. Residents were advised to step out only if necessary.

The medical and health department was directed to take measures to prevent seasonal diseases. Municipal bodies were told to ensure sanitation and chlorination in urban and rural areas. Irrigation officials were asked to inspect tanks daily and carry out urgent repairs without delay. All departments were instructed to keep staff available 24 hours at their respective workplaces during the rainfall period, with priority given to sanitation, health, and flood management.

Additional Collector Sandhya Rani, Zilla Parishad CEO Ramireddy, and senior officials from health, irrigation, panchayat raj, fire services, municipal, KUDA, town planning, and engineering departments attended the teleconference.
