Waqf Board functioning reviewed by Minister Azharuddin at Secretariat

Hyderabad: Minister for Public Enterprises and Minority Welfare Mohammed Azharuddin reviewed the Waqf Board functioning at the Secretariat on Thursday. He examined issues related to property management, administrative reforms, and measures needed to improve the board’s performance. He said stronger coordination and quicker decision-making would support ongoing efforts.

Officials outline updates on Waqf Board functioning

The meeting was attended by B. Shafiullah, Secretary to Government in the Minorities Welfare Department, and Mohammed Asadullah, CEO of the Telangana Waqf Board. Other senior officials also joined the review. Together, they briefed the Minister on current challenges. Moreover, they discussed the status of ongoing initiatives that require faster execution.

Azharuddin sought details on property protection, dispute resolution, and digital documentation. He noted that efficient systems would help the board act without delay. In addition, he emphasised that transparency remained essential for every reform step.

Reform steps planned to strengthen Waqf Board functioning

Officials discussed ways to streamline inspections and strengthen record management. They also proposed mechanisms to prevent encroachments and monitor valuable Waqf assets more closely. Furthermore, the Minister stressed that accountability must improve across all levels of administration.

He directed departments to prepare updated progress reports. These reports, he said, would help the government implement decisions promptly. The meeting ended with instructions to accelerate pending tasks and establish stronger internal checks.
