Hyderabad: Survivors of the Vietnam boat accident arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on Monday. They recalled the terrifying moments when a tourist boat capsized. They said 15 people died before their eyes despite swift rescue efforts.
Speaking to the media after landing, the tourists said they believed the trip had ended safely and that the boat had reached the shore. However, a massive wave suddenly struck the vessel. The impact overturned the boat and threw more than 20 passengers into the sea.
The survivors said passengers seated at the rear became trapped inside the overturned boat and could not escape. Those sitting near the front managed to swim to safety.
Rescue teams responded quickly in Vietnam boat accident
The survivors said Vietnamese rescue teams reached the accident site within 10 minutes and immediately launched rescue operations. They brought several unconscious passengers to the shore. Medical teams administered CPR in time and revived some of them.
The tourists credited local authorities and the boat crew for their prompt response, saying their quick action prevented an even greater loss of life. According to the survivors, emergency personnel acted without delay and saved many lives.
The tourists expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of their fellow passengers. They said they witnessed the tragedy unfold before their eyes.
They also said the Vietnamese government had ordered a high-level investigation into the Vietnam boat accident to determine what caused the disaster.
