VH urges political unity for BC reservation Bill in Telangana

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and former MP V. Hanumantha Rao on Saturday called for united political action to push the passage of the BC reservation Bill in Parliament. Speaking at a press meet at Gandhi Bhavan, he said this was the right moment to advance the cause of Backward Class representation in Telangana.

Hanumantha Rao noted that both Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy have shown strong support for BC reservations. He appealed to all political parties, including the BJP, to back the legislation.

PM Modi should support BC quota, says VH

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who belongs to a BC community, should personally endorse the Bill. “This move will benefit everyone,” he remarked.

Hanumantha Rao also pointed to Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra as evidence of his commitment to the BC cause. He said that Revanth Reddy, since becoming Chief Minister, has actively pursued BC welfare and quota-related reforms.

VH demands BC quota inclusion in 9th Schedule

He urged Parliament to introduce a Telangana-specific BC reservation Bill and include it in the Constitution’s 9th Schedule to protect it from legal challenges. “The case is pending in court. Inclusion in the 9th Schedule will ensure legal backing,” he said.

He also appealed to BJP MPs and leaders to press the Prime Minister for implementation. “It is time to show that political will can deliver justice to the Backward Classes,” he added.
