Union Budget leaves Telangana empty-handed, says KTR

Hyderabad: BRS working president K T Rama Rao said Telangana was left empty-handed in the Union Budget 2026–27, alleging that the Centre had failed to allocate even basic funds to the state.

In a post on X, Rama Rao said the Union Budget reflected a “cold shoulder” towards Telangana. Therefore, he demanded a public apology from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Union ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with all Congress and BJP MPs from the state.

According to him, Telangana received “zero allocation” in the Union Budget due to the failure of the state leadership. He said repeated visits to Delhi yielded no financial benefit. As a result, he termed the outcome a serious setback for the state.

Union Budget row intensifies over Telangana allocations

Rama Rao said promises of securing funds through proximity to the Centre had proven false. Moreover, he alleged that the chief minister’s Delhi visits served political interests rather than Telangana’s development.

He said Telangana had two Union ministers only in name. However, they failed to raise the state’s concerns effectively. Consequently, he claimed, Telangana did not receive even a minimal share in the Union Budget.

Drawing comparisons, Rama Rao said neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and poll-bound states received generous allocations. Meanwhile, he questioned the role of Telangana’s MPs in Delhi and asked whether they worked only for personal political interests.

Finally, he said the public had realised the cost of the BRS having no representation in the Lok Sabha. Therefore, he argued, the absence of a strong voice at the Centre led to continued injustice to Telangana in the Union Budget.
