HYDERABAD: In light of the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals scheduled for today, March 23, 2025, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, Hyderabad, city authorities have implemented specific traffic restrictions to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety.
The match is set to commence at 2:30 PM, with gates opening to spectators from 12:00 PM onwards. Anticipating a significant influx of cricket fans, the following traffic diversions have been put into effect from 12:00 PM today:
– Habsiguda X Road Diversion: Traffic heading towards Uppal from Habsiguda X Road will be redirected to alternative routes to alleviate congestion.
– Ramanthapur Diversion: Vehicles originating from Ramanthapur will be diverted via Street No. 8 towards Uppal X Road to manage traffic flow efficiently.
To minimize traffic congestion and ensure timely arrival at the stadium, authorities recommend that spectators utilize public transportation options such as the Hyderabad Metro and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) services. The Hyderabad Metro Rail has extended its services to accommodate the match schedule, providing a convenient travel option for attendees.
Parking restrictions have also been enforced to maintain order around the stadium premises:
– No Parking Zones: Spectators are prohibited from parking vehicles on either side of the main roads stretching from Genpact to Uppal Ring Road and from Uppal Ring Road to Vishal Mart, Ramanthapur. Vehicles should be parked only in designated TSIIC parking areas to avoid penalties.
In addition to traffic measures, comprehensive security protocols have been established to ensure the safety of players and spectators:
– Police Deployment: A total of 2,700 police personnel have been deployed in and around the stadium to manage security and crowd control effectively.
– Prohibited Items: Attendees are advised that items such as cameras, Bluetooth devices, cigarettes, weapons, water bottles, backpacks, and outside food are strictly prohibited within the stadium premises. No cloakroom facilities will be available, so spectators should plan accordingly.
