Telangana Formation Day

Hyderabad: With Telangana State Formation Day celebrations slated for 2 June at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad and Gun Park in Nampally, the city’s traffic police have rolled out an elaborate plan for diversions and parking. Officials urged motorists to plan their journeys in advance and opt for alternative routes to sidestep potential traffic snarls.

At Gun Park, traffic restrictions will come into effect between 9 am and 10 am. Vehicles coming from Dwaraka Hotel towards Hyderabad Traffic Police junction will be diverted at Ravindra Bharathi towards Iqbal Minar. Similarly, traffic from Nampally T Junction heading towards Ravindra Bharathi will be rerouted at AR Petrol Pump towards BJR Statue. Congestion is expected around Ravindra Bharathi, AR Petrol Pump, and the Hyderabad Traffic Police junction.

Major diversions will be enforced near Parade Grounds between 6 am and 1 pm. Authorities have advised motorists to avoid routes from Panjagutta-Greenlands-Begumpet to Secunderabad and the roads surrounding Parade Grounds. The stretch between Tivoli X-roads and Plaza X-roads will remain closed during this period.

Traffic coming from Begumpet towards Sangeeth X roads will be diverted at CTO X roads towards Balamrai, Brooke Bond, Tivoli, Sweekar Upakar, YMCA, and St. Johns Rotary. Vehicles from Bowenpally and Tadbund heading towards Plaza will be rerouted at Tivoli towards Sweekar Upakar and St. John’s Rotary.

Commuters from Patny towards Trimulgherry will need to take the YMCA-Sweekar Upakar-Picket route. Those heading from Sangeeth X roads towards Begumpet will be directed via YMCA, Clock Tower, Patny, Paradise, CTO, and Rasoolpura.

Other diversions include routes from Alugaddabai, Secunderabad Railway Station, Karkhana, and JBS, all with alternative routes specified to manage the expected heavy traffic.

Commuters can expect heavy traffic at key junctions, including Chilakalguda, Alugaddabai, Sangeeth, YMCA, Patny, SBH, Plaza, CTO, Brooke Bond, Tivoli, Sweekar Upakar, Secunderabad Club, Trimulgherry, Tadbund, Centre Point, Diamond Point, Bowenpally, Rasoolpura, Begumpet, and Paradise.

Officials have urged those heading to Secunderabad Railway Station and Jubilee Bus Station to set off well in advance to avoid getting caught in the rush. They’ve also suggested that passengers consider the Metro Rail for a quicker, hassle-free journey.

For parking, visitors and buses are requested to park only in designated areas as per the provided maps.

Motorists are urged to check traffic updates on Hyderabad Traffic Police’s Facebook page (@HyderabadTrafficPolice) and Twitter handle (@HYDP). For travel-related assistance, call the traffic helpline at 9010203626.

Officials appealed to all citizens to cooperate with the police to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic during the celebrations.
