Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao on Monday directed officials to ensure smooth distribution of urea across Telangana and prevent inconvenience to farmers.
Speaking to the media, Rao urged farmers not to panic or hoard fertilizer at home. He said some groups were trying to provoke farmers for political gain but assured that the government, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, was committed to supporting the farming community.
Additional centres for urea distribution
Following the minister’s instructions, the Agriculture Department announced the opening of additional distribution centres. Agriculture Director Gopi said urea was being supplied through 500 Rythu Vedikas across the state to prevent diversion.
He added that farmers were being issued tokens to avoid long queues and ensure transparent allocation.
Farmers welcome government measures
Officials said that both government and private outlets together numbered nearly 12,000, but most farmers preferred to purchase from government centres, causing temporary rush. They noted that farmers had expressed satisfaction with the state’s measures to streamline distribution.
