TGPSC to appeal Group-1 verdict, job seekers express anger

Hyderabad: Unemployed youth in Telangana reacted with anger after the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) decided to challenge the High Court’s ruling on Group-1 examinations. The move reignited frustration among job aspirants who wanted the government to follow the verdict.

A single-judge bench of the High Court had earlier directed that Group-1 Mains answer sheets be re-evaluated or the exam cancelled and re-conducted. Many candidates welcomed the order, seeing it as a path to justice. They expected the Revanth Reddy government to accept the decision and announce fresh exams.

TGPSC decision sparks protests across universities

On Thursday, the Commission held a special meeting and resolved to appeal the verdict before a division bench. Officials said revaluation could cause major technical complications, so the Commission opted for legal relief. They confirmed that a petition will be filed soon.

The decision triggered immediate protests by student groups across the state. BRSV activists staged demonstrations at Chikkadapally Central Library and several universities. They demanded the cancellation of the Group-1 exam and release of a new job calendar. Protesters insisted the government issue fresh notifications without delay.

Police detained BRSV leaders and took them to local stations to restore order. Students, however, pledged to continue their agitation until the Commission withdrew its decision and upheld the High Court ruling.
