Telangana to supply Vijaya milk to Anganwadi children in Mulugu pilot

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will begin supplying Vijaya milk to Anganwadi children to tackle malnutrition, Women and Child Welfare Minister D. Anasuya (Seethakka) announced on Monday. The state selected Mulugu district for the pilot phase of this nutrition drive.

Minister urges Anganwadi teachers to lead initiative

Minister Seethakka called on Anganwadi teachers to actively support the programme and inform parents about the services provided at the centres. She also instructed staff to operate Anganwadi centres at par with corporate schools to ensure quality care and early education.

Awareness drives on child rights and elder care

As part of Older People’s Week, the minister released posters warning that those who neglect their parents could lose their assets, which may be transferred to the affected parents. During Child Rights Week, she also unveiled materials promoting child protection and the prevention of child marriage.

Government targets child-marriage-free Mulugu

Seethakka highlighted that child marriages undermine children’s development. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making Mulugu a district free of child marriage. District officials welcomed the initiative, with the Collector thanking the minister for selecting Mulugu as a model district.

Vijaya milk distribution starts in Anganwadi centres

The minister also launched the milk distribution drive. Under this programme, each pre-school child will receive 100 ml of Vijaya milk daily. The distribution began under the guidance of Mulugu CDPO Kuchana Sirisha. District Welfare Officer Tula Ravi outlined current nutrition and welfare efforts.

ITDA Project Officer Chitra Mishra, Additional Collector Mahender, and several ICDS officials joined the launch event.
