Telangana hits record paddy procurement of 70.82 LMT in Kharif 2025-26

Hyderabad: Telangana recorded its highest-ever paddy procurement during the Kharif Marketing Season 2025–26, with 70.82 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) collected—setting a new benchmark for the state and surpassing all other states in the country, Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced on Tuesday.

Extending Sankranti greetings, Reddy applauded the relentless efforts of the farming community. He said the state directly helped 13.97 lakh farmers through Minimum Support Price (MSP) operations, underscoring the importance of efficient paddy procurement.

The government procured 38.37 LMT of fine-grade paddy and 32.45 LMT of coarse variety. All stock has been transported to rice mills for processing, showcasing the state’s streamlined approach to paddy procurement.

Farmers receive over ₹16,000 crore in payments

The total MSP value of the procurement crossed ₹16,912 crore. So far, the state has disbursed ₹16,602 crore—covering 98% of payments. Additionally, farmers received ₹1,425 crore in bonuses for fine-grade paddy. Paddy procurement efforts have ensured substantial financial gains for farmers.

Procurement operations took place at 8,448 centers across Telangana. According to Reddy, the process remained smooth, efficient, and responsive to farmers’ needs regarding paddy procurement. He assured that any remaining payments and follow-up work would be completed without delay.

Telangana leads in national procurement figures

“This Sankranti is truly special for our farmers,” Reddy said. “Their dedication has put Telangana at the forefront of paddy procurement in the country.”

He reiterated the government’s full support to farmers. The Minister also promised continued timely MSP payments and bonus incentives. Furthermore, he credited the success to close coordination between the Civil Supplies and Irrigation departments, which played a crucial role in the remarkable paddy procurement achievements.
