IMD issues Telangana rain alert ahead of week-long showers

Telangana rain alert as IMD forecasts sustained rainfall; Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra also on watch

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a fresh alert for widespread rainfall across Telangana starting today, forecasting a wet spell likely to continue for at least a week.

The department warned of moderate to heavy showers over several parts of the State, ending a ten-day dry phase. Rainfall is also expected across neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, with a specific alert issued for extremely heavy rain over Rayalaseema on August 5.

Officials said parts of Tamil Nadu, Yanam, and interior Maharashtra are also likely to receive significant rainfall in the coming days.

The renewed rains have brought cheer to farmers across the region, many of whom were awaiting a second wet phase for sowing and irrigation.
