Telangana Police remains No.1 in India, says DGP Shivdhar Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police B. Shivdhar Reddy on Thursday reaffirmed that the Telangana Police continued to be the number one police force in the country. Addressing the inaugural session of the training for 112 probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), he urged them to uphold the force’s national leadership in law enforcement.

The training, held at the RBVRR Telangana State Police Academy, marks the largest DSP batch to date, including 38 women officers. Calling the academy the foundation for leadership, Reddy said the 10-month course would instill discipline, punctuality, and a service-oriented mindset.

“Discipline is not punishment it is readiness,” he told trainees, urging them to lead with integrity. He stressed that police officers must uphold honesty, empathy, and professionalism, and understand both the letter and spirit of the law.

Highlighting the Telangana Police as a model of modern policing, he cited elite units like Greyhounds, Octopus, TGCSB, CI Cell, and Eagle, and citizen-focused initiatives including She Teams, Bharosa Centers, community policing, and the Command Control Center.

“The true power of a police officer lies not in the stars on the shoulder, but in the trust of the people,” he said.

Academy Director Abhilasha Bisht outlined the 42-week training schedule. The DGP also released the syllabus for the program. Senior officers including IGPs S. Chandrasekhar Reddy, M. Ramesh, Ramesh Naidu, and academy deputies attended the session.
