Telangana panchayat elections schedule announced

Hyderabad: Telangana State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini announced the schedule for the Telangana panchayat elections, confirming three polling phases on December 11, 14 and 17. She said the election code took effect on Tuesday.

She noted that each phase would follow a two- to three-day interval. The state will elect representatives for 12,728 sarpanch posts and 1,12,242 ward seats. She added that the first phase covers 4,200 sarpanch posts and 37,440 ward positions.

Kumudini said nominations for the first phase open the day after tomorrow. Polling will run from 7am to 1pm, and counting will start at 2pm. She said the state has 1.66 crore rural voters. She also recalled that the commission issued the original schedule on September 29 and faced a stay on October 9 due to certain reasons.

Nomination timeline for Telangana panchayat elections

Kumudini said the first-phase nomination process begins on the 27th of this month. The second-phase nominations start on November 30, and the third-phase process opens on December 3.
