Hyderabad: Telangana Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas on Wednesday reiterated the Congress government’s firm commitment to supporting farmers. He said the state would ensure full-scale paddy procurement in all regions.
He made these remarks while inaugurating procurement centres in Vattimalla village, established by DRDA and T-SERP. Srinivas said the government treats farmers not just as food producers, but as the backbone of the economy. “We aim to honour them like kings,” he added.
Telangana paddy procurement: MSP and bonus announced
The MLA stated that A-grade paddy will fetch an MSP of ₹2,389 per quintal, while B-grade will be procured at ₹2,369. In addition, the state has announced a ₹500 bonus for fine rice varieties.
He credited former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for launching procurement centres. These facilities, he noted, have operated consistently ever since. The Congress government, he said, has already waived ₹25,000 crore in farm loans.
Srinivas accused the previous administration of mismanaging state finances. However, he assured farmers that the current government will purchase every grain they harvest. He also urged officials to take all necessary steps to guarantee a smooth procurement process.
Local leaders and officials participate in event
Several key officials and party members attended the event. DRDA officer Seshadri Reddy, Additional Collector Nagesh, and DSO Chandrasekhar were present, alongside Konaraopet Tahsildar Varalakshmi.
Congress district Kisan Cell president Jagan Mohan Reddy, FACTS Chairman Banda Narsaiah, AMC Chairman Kachakayala Ellayya, Vice Chairman Prabhakar, and other directors joined them. Village leaders and local farmers also participated in the programme.
