Hyderabad: Preparations for municipal elections gained momentum in Telangana after authorities released draft voter lists for urban local bodies across the state.
Officials released draft electoral rolls for all 117 municipalities and six municipal corporations. They said voters could file objections or seek corrections until January 4. Authorities will publish the final voter lists on January 10.
According to official data, the draft lists include nearly 45 lakh voters across municipal areas. Of these, around 23 lakh are women voters, while about 22 lakh are men.
Municipal elections to cover 3,056 urban wards
The upcoming municipal elections will cover 2,690 wards in municipalities and 366 wards in municipal corporations. Election officials said the voter list update followed the completion of recent gram panchayat elections.
Officials urged voters to verify their details in the draft rolls. They said timely verification would help avoid issues during polling.
Voters can check their names and details on the website of the Telangana State Election Commission. Authorities advised citizens to submit objections online or through designated offices before the deadline.
Election officials said the release of draft voter lists marked a key step in the run-up to municipal elections in urban Telangana.
