Telangana DGP directs tight security for Miss World 2024 events

Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Jitender has instructed senior police officials to implement comprehensive security measures for the upcoming Miss World 2024 events being hosted in the state. Speaking at a high-level meeting at the DGP’s office on Friday, Dr Jitender said the government views the pageant as a prestigious opportunity to enhance the global image of Telangana.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reportedly directed that security arrangements must reflect the state’s reputation and ensure the safety of all participants. Contestants from approximately 120 countries are expected to attend, with confirmations already received from 116 nations. The month-long event will see groups of contestants touring various parts of Telangana.

The inaugural ceremony is scheduled for May 10 at Gachibowli Stadium, while the final contest will be held on May 31 at HITEX, Hyderabad. As part of the cultural and promotional itinerary, contestants will visit several key heritage, tourism, and healthcare sites across the state:

Additional DGP Mahesh M. Bhagwat, Miss World police nodal officer Additional DGP Stephen Ravindra, DG Fire Services Nagireddy, and several Commissioners, including Hyderabad’s Vikram Singh Mann, Cyberabad’s Avinash Mahanti, and Rachakonda’s Sudheer Babu were present during the meeting.

Intelligence IGP Karthikeya, HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, and officials from the Tourism Development Corporation, including MD Prakash Reddy, also attended. Multi-zone IGPs Chandra Shekhar Reddy and V. Satyanarayana participated, while Commissioners from Warangal and SPs from Mulugu, Nalgonda, and Mahbubnagar joined via video conference.
