Telangana government cuts Metro-RTC combined pass prices by more than half

Hyderabad: The Telangana government reduced Metro-RTC combined pass prices ahead of Diwali to make public transport more affordable. The monthly pass will now cost Rs 4,000 instead of Rs 8,500. The revised fares will take effect from November 8.

Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced the decision. He said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had directed the government to ease the financial burden on passengers. The move also aimed to encourage greater use of public transport.

Under the revised monthly Metro-RTC combined pass, passengers will pay Rs 3,000 for Metro travel and Rs 1,000 for RTC services. In addition, the pass will allow up to 50 round trips in a month. As a result, commuters will save Rs 4,500 every month.

The government also reduced the daily pass fare from Rs 400 to Rs 275. Of this amount, Rs 200 will cover Metro travel, while Rs 75 will cover RTC services. Pass holders can make four single journeys a day. Therefore, the revised daily fare will save passengers Rs 125.

Metro-RTC combined pass changes take effect on November 8

Prabhakar said commuters could use the new rates from November 8. Accordingly, the government directed Metro and RTC officials to make the necessary arrangements.

The revised prices are expected to benefit employees, students and other regular commuters in Hyderabad. In particular, the lower monthly and daily fares will reduce travel costs for people who depend on both services.
