Hyderabad: Telangana is ready to play a key role in achieving the Viksit Bharat-2047 goal, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Saturday. He said the State viewed India’s economic targets as an immediate responsibility requiring concrete action.
Bhatti, who also holds the Finance portfolio, was speaking at a conference in New Delhi. The conference, titled “Mobilising Financial Resources for India’s Journey Towards Viksit Bharat”, was held under Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s leadership.
Bhatti said mobilising adequate financial resources would be a major challenge in achieving unprecedented levels of development. At the same time, governments would have to maintain fiscal stability and improve productivity.
He said development benefits should also reach every citizen and region. Achieving the Viksit Bharat goal would require coordinated efforts by both the Centre and the states, he added.
Bhatti stressed that neither the Centre nor individual states could achieve the goal independently. He called for both levels of government to move forward together through cooperative federalism.
He also emphasised effective mobilisation of public and private resources. Strong institutions and policies based on mutual cooperation would be necessary to support the development process, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said Telangana was participating in the deliberations with a defined development strategy. He said the State had a clear plan for mobilising financial resources and a long-term economic vision.
Telangana targets $3 trillion economy by 2047
Bhatti said Telangana was ready for its next phase of growth, supported by strong economic foundations. The State’s Gross State Domestic Product reached ₹17.82 lakh crore in 2025-26, he said.
According to Bhatti, GSDP grew by 10.7% at current prices during the year. Real GSDP growth at constant prices was estimated at 8.5%.
Telangana’s per capita income increased to ₹4,18,931, he said. This was nearly twice the national average of ₹2,19,575.
Bhatti said the services sector recorded 13.5% growth, while the secondary sector grew by 9.4%.
At its current growth trajectory, Telangana’s economy is estimated to reach $1.21 trillion by 2047, he said. However, the State government has set a substantially higher target.
The government aims to transform Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047. It also wants to double the State’s share in the national economy.
Bhatti said Telangana currently accounted for around 5% of the national economy. The government aims to increase that contribution to 10% as part of its long-term development strategy.
