Hyderabad: The Telangana government has released ₹304 crore in interest-free loans to women’s self-help groups across the state. A significant portion of this funding, ₹5.66 crore, was distributed to 5,329 self-help groups in seven mandals under the Husnabad constituency.
Husnabad groups receive over ₹5.6 crore in interest-free loans
Civil Supplies Minister Ponnam Prabhakar handed over the cheques during a programme at the Minister Quarters. As part of the disbursal, 445 groups in Husnabad mandal received ₹46 lakh. In Akkannapet, 754 groups were granted ₹85 lakh, while Koheda mandal’s 964 groups received ₹1.18 crore.
Furthermore, 821 groups in Chigurumamidi were allotted ₹86 lakh. The same amount went to 703 groups in Saidapur. Meanwhile, 775 groups in Elkathurthy received ₹74.42 lakh, and Bhimadevarapally’s 867 groups received ₹85.16 lakh.
Speaking at the event, Minister Prabhakar explained that the scheme aims to boost financial self-sufficiency among women. He noted that banks are increasingly offering credit to these groups, reflecting growing institutional trust.
The minister stressed the importance of women’s participation in all sectors. “The government will pay the interest on these loans,” he said. He also urged women above 18 to join self-help groups and strengthen their economic standing.
He emphasized that the Praja Palana administration is committed to providing comprehensive support to women. Officials from various districts, including Siddipet DRDO Jayadev Arya, Karimnagar DRDO Sridhar, and Additional DRDOs Ravi Kumar and Hanmakonda Venkatesh, attended the event.
