Hyderabad: Telangana heavy rains were forecast for September 17 and 18, with severe thunderstorms and lightning expected across several districts.
Weather expert Telangana Weatherman warned that daytime conditions could remain hot, humid and uncomfortable across the state. However, only isolated showers were expected in some areas until the evening.
According to the warning, weather conditions could change rapidly from night through early morning. Several districts could then experience heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and frequent lightning.
People in districts under a red alert were advised to remain highly cautious during the night. Meanwhile, the changing weather pattern could create sudden and dangerous conditions in affected areas.
The warning also indicated that Telangana heavy rains could affect the capital after midnight. Hyderabad could see moderate to heavy showers despite the hot and humid conditions during the daytime.

Sudden lightning and strong winds could become more intense during the night, according to the warning. Officials advised residents to avoid open areas during periods of thunderstorms.
People were also told not to shelter under trees or stand near electricity poles during severe weather. Such precautions were advised because of the risk from lightning strikes and strong winds.
Farmers, pedestrians and travellers were urged to remain alert and move to safe locations when thunderstorms develop. In addition, the weather department advised people to avoid unnecessary night travel.
The warning specifically highlighted the need for greater caution in districts facing red alert conditions. Further weather developments were expected to depend on the changes occurring overnight and into the early morning.
